Species Octopus vulgaris (Common octopus)

A very common octopus in most of its distribution area. Roundish head and body, very mimetic and variable in colours. Long legs with two rows of suction cups underside. Can be confused with Callistoctopus macropus which has longer legs, longish head and body and white spots all over it. Eledone cirrhosa is also very similar, whitish in color, but usually with only one row of suction cups under the legs.
